How does scoring work?

Tournament Structure

A tournament consists of multiple matches. Each match splits the players into two teams (Red and Blue). Within a match, teams play through rounds, and each round contains individual 1-on-1 Gin Rummy games.

Game

Each game between two players has a winner, a deadwood score, and a win type:

Win TypeBonus PointsTokens
Knock00
Draw00
Undercut251
Gin252
Elevant503
Oaschi504

A game's total points = deadwood + bonus points. The winner earns the tokens; the loser loses them.

Round

Each round has a card suit that determines its multiplier:

♦ Diamonds (not in use)
♥ Hearts
♠ Spades
♣ Clubs

The round result = (Blue points − Red points) × multiplier / 10, rounded to the nearest 10.

Match — The Three Columns

A match is played across three columns on the scoreboard. The first round win goes into column 1. The second round win goes into columns 1 and 2. From the third round win onward, results are added to all three columns. Once a team crosses the win threshold in a column (default: 1,200 points), that column is closed — but the remaining columns continue to receive results.

Schneider bonus: If the losing team scores 0 points in a column, the winner's column points are doubled.

Each column's score = point difference + 800 (column win bonus), ×2 if Schneider. The match winner is the team with the higher total across all three columns.

Money

The point difference between the teams is converted into money and distributed among the players. Unequal team sizes are compensated — players on a smaller team win (or lose) proportionally more per person.

Tokens

Tokens are earned individually from game wins, independent of team results. Each token is also worth €0.50 in the money ranking.

Rankings

Tournament and group rankings aggregate each player's total money and tokens across all matches played.
